Memory and Dementia Care in Shrewsbury
One of the most difficult challenges a family can face is adjusting to a family member facing memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer’s. While many people are prepared for how these disorders impact long-term memories, they are often surprised by how cognitive disorders can impact daily living. For many people struggling with memory loss, it can mean that danger becomes a part of unsupervised living, making supervised assisted living in a special memory care setting a necessity. The Chelsea at Shrewsbury featuring Chelsea Senior Living’s own approach to memory care, The Country Cottage, provides the secure, supportive environment that seniors with memory loss need, while still providing the high-end care that has become a Chelsea hallmark.
The Country Cottage
The Country Cottage is a secure facility, but it is designed to feel like home. In addition to a 24-hour staff, the Country Cottage also has a registered nurse (RN) available 24/7. Residents can choose from personal or shared apartments, and staff makes every effort to respect privacy and independence when possible. However, residents can also take part in a wide variety of social and recreational activities, many of which have been shown, not only to increase socialization but also to help slow the progress of cognitive decline. Residents who need assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, bathroom assistance, and personal hygiene has access to 24-hour care. All residents receive three healthy and delicious meals each day and medication management to ensure that medication routines are followed as directed by the president’s healthcare team.
The Chelsea at Shrewsbury’s Country Cottage uses a multidisciplinary approach to ensure the highest level of care for its residents. Physical and emotional needs for residents with memory impairment can be complex, with is why The Chelsea works with social workers, nurses, psychologists, and geriatric psychologists to develop individualized comprehensive care plans for each resident.

I think Chelsea at Bald Eagle is a very nice community. They took her in and gave her the very best care that they were able. She was in their memory care wing, and the staff there is very friendly and professional. I would recommend them highly.

My mom is in The Chelsea, and she’s stable, calm and getting adjusted. The staff is very caring. It is very clean and very nice. It is a very pretty facility. The dining room is very nice, and she always liked the food; she thought it was very good. It always seemed the residents are very lively, sitting down and conversing. The dining room looked like a restaurant. Mother has a private room
