It was like stepping into a time machine and being transported back to 1998 when The Chelsea at East Brunswick first opened its door to residents. The original staff who were part of that first year and beyond came together on Thursday, October 5th, 2023 at the East Brunswick community to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Loretta Kaes, the community’s first Executive Director and former Vice President of Health Services at Chelsea Senior Living, flew up all the way from her current residence in Florida to make the celebration with her husband. Kaes was recognized at the event and was delightfully surprised to hear that the community will be dedicating the bistro in her honor, which can be seen walking into the lobby.

Kaes was also the director of quality improvement for the Health Care Association of New Jersey before she retired.

Also recognized during the celebration was former Executive Director Cynthia Rozenberg, who recently retired.

Memories were shared all around. Former department leaders Steve and Susan Izzo attended the event as the place holds special meaning to them. They got married at the community.

There was also the former Public Relations Director for Chelsea Senior Living, Pattie Tucker, who recalled spending a majority of her time at East Brunswick.

The event was well attended by local organizations such as the East Brunswick Senior Center and Brunswick Memorial Home.

East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen joined the celebration, as well.

In addition to the great conversations and reflections, there was a video presentation, live entertainment, food, drinks, and a photo booth.

Chelsea Senior Living COO and President Roger Bernier shared a few words as he looked back on the 25 years when he helped open the community.

The community’s Executive Director Tim Yuhas led everybody with a champagne toast.

The Chelsea at East Brunswick offers Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Mental Health services to seniors in Middlesex County.
