Washington Township Rallies to Donate 200 Pairs of Shoes

The Chelsea at Washington Township (“Chelsea”), a leading Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Bergen County, NJ, has made a significant environmental and economic impact through its recent participation in donating 200 pairs of shoes to Soles4Souls (“S4S”), an organization that turns shoes and clothing into global societal and environmental opportunities.
The donation from Chelsea will have the following impact:
- Divert 250 pounds from going to local landfills, reducing the environmental impact of these unwanted shoe and clothing by extending their lifespan and reducing the CO2 impact per wear.
- Create $1,810 of economic opportunity for families and communities around the world through S4S’s 4Opportunity and 4Relief programs. This means more money in their pockets to use toward necessities, education, and economic opportunities for their families.
- In countries such as Haiti and Honduras, our donation can provide consistent, quality food, housing, and education for a family for two months.
“We couldn’t be happier to be a part of this effort to help make a difference in the world,” said Todd Aronson, Executive Director at The Chelsea at Washington Township. “Our residents and staff were very supportive and invested in this cause, and we look forward to continuing our participation with this campaign.”
The Chelsea at Washington Township opened its doors last year to provide Bergen County with a brand new, modern senior living environment where residents can live independently in their own apartments, but receive the care they need and a vibrant social life.
