Why Chelsea Senior Living

The decision to put a family member in an assisted living community is one that is difficult for many people. Many people feel guilt about placing a loved one in an assisted living community rather than having that loved one come live with them. However, moving a senior or special needs family member into a home with a family, while very well-intentioned, can actually be more disruptive in some instances than a transition into an assisted living community that has been created to provide a warm, nurturing, and protective environment while still preserving as much independence as possible for its residents.

Chelsea Senior Living offers locations throughout the Northeast. Their twelve New Jersey senior living locations are located in: Belvidere, Brick, Bridgewater, East Brunswick, Fanwood, Manalapan, Monroe Township, Montville, Tinton Falls, Toms River, Warren, West Milford, and Marlboro. They also have a special needs community in Mt. Bethel, New Jersey. Their three senior communities in New York are located in: Forest Hills, Plainville, and Rockville Centre. Currently, they offer one senior living community in Pennsylvania, in Jenkintown. Four new locations are coming soon: Clifton, NJ; Fishkill, NY; Warren, NJ, and Marlboro Township, NJ.

The services offered by Chelsea Senior Living vary by community. Some of their communities offer a great deal of assistance, while others are independent living communities that provide a combination of independent living and help when it is needed. Perhaps the most unique community is their Mt. Bethel special needs community, which offers independence to adults with autism, developmental disabilities, or traumatic brain injuries who cannot live fully independently. Working with each individual and their family members, the community addresses individual learning and social support needs, providing a sense of community along with the ensuring that daily physical needs are met.

In independent living, seniors get the support of moving into a senior community, but the freedom of maintaining their own apartments. Seniors in these communities can choose to dine with the community or make meals in their own full kitchens, and have the peace of mind of 24 hour emergency response. Chelsea Senior Living’s assisted living for seniors allows seniors to retain independence as they age, and allows for the choice of apartment or suite, which can be personalized for each individual, and also provides support for residents who need assistance with meeting some of their daily needs such as: bathing, dressing, walking, physical therapy, medication management, and other daily activities. For residents with memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer’s, specialized memory are services are available in residences designed to provide them with safety and comfort.
