(Rockville Centre, NY)— Shari Stein, RN, the Health Services Director at Maple Pointe Assisted Living, 260 Maple Avenue, has been awarded the prestigious Nurse of the Year Award by the New York State Center for Assisted Living (NYSCAL), the major trade group for the New York assisted living industry.
Ms. Stein led Maple Pointe’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic since it first struck in March, 2020. She routinely donned head-to-toe PPE, along with other staff members, to keep residents isolated from the disease and help in treating and comforting them.
“Shari stepped up in a big way to keep our care staff motivated during the most difficult time in our modern history,” said Tammy Marshall, Executive Director. “Shari was absolutely selfless and brave, showing up every day in the face of staff shortages, positive cases and other challenges presented by COVID.”
Ms. Stein has been Health Services Director since 2017.
Maple Pointe is operated by Chelsea Senior Living, a provider of assisted living, independent living and memory care for 30 years. You can learn more at chelseaseniorliving.com.
