How Our Communities Participate in National Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day is on September 9th this year and marks the beginning of Assisted Living Week. Since 1978, it’s a day to celebrate our Grandparents and all that they do for us. It is a day to go out of your way to give your Grandparents a call, buy them some flowers, a card, or visit them.

At Chelsea Senior Living we take great pride in our residents, many of whom are grandparents. On this day we put on special events to celebrate them. Some of the Lifestyle Directors from the communities shared with us what activities the residents will be participating in this Grandparents Day.

  • At the Chelsea at Montville they will be having their second annual country style barbeque which will include a petting zoo along with roaming farm animals.
  • At the Chelsea at Toms River they are hosting a continental breakfast and they are inviting the resident’s families to come play “back in the day” games like hopscotch, jump rope, making paper airplanes, stick ball and cats in the cradle.
  • The Chelsea at Fanwood will be celebrating Grandparents Day with a 70’s party. There will be an entertainer playing funky 70’s music along with a family photo booth.
  • The Chelsea at Brookfield will be creating a vintage feel around the building with an old accordion player, a curious type of prop. There will also be an old fashioned cake sale/ cake walk type of program to help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.
