(Manalapan, NJ)– Barbara Tuck is surrounded by art in her apartment at the Chelsea at Manalapan, 445 Rt. 9 South. The art is the product of her own nimble fingers pushing needles through tiny holes to make colorful portraits and landscapes.
“I was living in Queens with five kids,” she recalls. “I needed an escape!”
What started as a distraction has become a craft that has won her top prizes at the Monmouth County Fair.
A Chelsea resident since 2014, Barbara has lived in Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island and Delray Beach, Florida. Her five kids have given her 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
“Now, one of my daughters lives right down the street,” she says.
