Residents of The Chelsea at Tinton Falls assisted living residence, 1 Hartford Drive, this week donated 60 handmade fleece blankets to a program that brings decorations and gifts to children in local hospitals around the holidays. The program, called Prep and Landing, is a project of Zynergy, a retirement planning company. This year, a volunteer with Prep and Landing whose mother-in-law resides at the Chelsea saw the residents making blankets as they have done in years past for other charities, and suggested they would be a perfect gift for the project.
Over the past months, Chelsea residents, under the leadership of Lifestyle Director Carol Kezel and Lifestyle Assistant Robin Moran, worked hard to meet this week’s deadline to make 60 blankets with fleece donated by Zynergy. They reached their goal and on Monday, Dec. 11th, the group from Zynergy came with their children and grandchildren to pick up the blankets, sing Christmas carols and share cookies with the residents.
“This is the largest, most heartwarming community project we’ve ever done,” said Kezel, “and I am very proud of our residents.”
