For many, there’s an overwhelming number of options one can choose to remain as independent as possible. Home Care? Assisted Living? Senior Day Care Centers – medical or social model? Nursing Home? And how does COVID-19 factor into my decision?
So, what kind of care is right for you?
Read on to review important considerations to support an informed decision. As an Assisted Living operator, we are committed to ensuring your quality of life and provide the care and supportive services needed to maintain your independence and best ability to function.
Financial
This is probably the first consideration on your mind. What can I afford? With all the services, amenities, and beautifully designed apartments to fulfill all your needs, you may be surprised to hear that Assisted Living communities are an affordable option.
According to a 2020 study by Genworth Financial, Assisted Living daily costs are on average 2% to 65% lower (varies based on care level need) than in-home or nursing Home Care.
The Chelsea Assisted Living communities offer a range of affordable pricing. Our experienced teams work with you to meet your budget. Let’s face it: your money matters and you should make the most of it by investing in you.
24/7 Care
Assisted Living provides 24/7 support and assistance to residents. In the Chelsea communities, two Registered Professional Nurses (RN), the Director of Nursing (ND) and the Assistant Director of Nursing lead the care team. They are on-site a minimum of five days a week and are on-call 24/7. Most communities also employ Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to ensure additional coverage. Home Health Aides (HHA) and Certified Medication Aides (CMA) are in the community around the clock. Staffing is based on the number of residents on care as well as the acuity level (care needs) of the residents. No matter what time you’re in need of help, someone is always there for you.
Labor laws require Home Care aides receive eight hours of sleep and multiple breaks.
Maintenance-free = worry-free
Assisted Living communities include utilities and maintenance of all kinds (e.g., plumbing, electric, etc.). You can also breathe a sigh of relief knowing that you won’t have to factor in landscaping, raking leaves, or snow removal anymore. Daily bed making, trash removal, weekly housekeeping and laundry is also provided.
Dining experience
Sometimes you don’t mind a night out at a nice restaurant with some friends. Sometimes you want to dine in the comfort of your own home. Certainly, COVID-19 has impacted all of us enjoying a dining experience in a restaurant. Assisted Living communities provide three hot meals a day, restaurant style, with a myriad of menu choices. Special dietary needs are also supported. The food at Chelsea is prepared by Chelsea’s Celebrity Chefs, every single day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Social experience
Assisted Living is a mixed social and medical model. Having a strong founding basis in programming – Assisted Living speak for lifestyle activities – Chelsea maintains an emphasis on the importance of socialization for seniors. We understand how loneliness and social isolation can have a negative impact on the physical and/or mental health of seniors.
Independence

We value your independence and how you want to live your life – your best life. Our communities are equipped to provide entertainment in the community, such as movie theaters, media rooms, salons, and social lounges. Residents always look forward to the famous daily Chelsea Cocktail hours. That’s something Home Care can’t give you.
